002: a light touch

Dan got some LED gloves for Christmas so, along with his dad, we met up to give them a whirl for lightpainting.

With the camera set up we started by backlighting Dan to create the bizarre shadow. He then walked towards the camera with the gloves switched on, passing his hands quite close either side of where the camera was positioned.

Next up came the circles of colour, created with a rainbow pattern programmed into a Pixelstick (but only rotated 180º). Before starting the exposure we'd put some marks on the ground so Dan knew where to stand.

The final touch was Dan's idea, filling his own shadow with the smoky effect of EL Wire. Pretty cool how the EL shows up in the shadow areas but isn't bright enough to appear in the lighter zones.
