I'd scouted this place during the day so I knew the lie of the land. Can never be quite sure of how the sky will fall, however, so this was not my initial choice of composition.
By the time I'd spent a few minutes on this shot with a couple of lighting options- and a lot of wiping the mist off my front element- the weather had changed altogether and the star-filled sky had been concealed by cloud.
Not that I'm at all disappointed with this- especially as it was captured at ISO8000- but I always like to try and make the most of any astro location. Thankfully I already had a couple of keepers from an earlier site that were helping me maintain a warm glow inside :)
